What are Ultimate Shootouts?

The Ultimate Shootouts are HIGHLY collaborative events where photographers, models, makeup artists, and hairstylists converge for day-long photoshoots throughout Southern California.  The purpose of these events are to build portfolios, gain experience, network with others, AND have a great time doing so!

The organizers of the SoCal Photography Group work professionally in their trade, with the experience and knowledge to support and advise those with similar aspirations.  The true strength of the group, however, comes from its members, where diverse perspectives, styles, and talents create an enjoyable & highly efficient experience everyone can enjoy.

Who can participate?

This shootout is aimed towards photographers, models, makeup artists, and hairstylists who are serious about their work!

What do I bring?

This is a collaborative event, and as such, each artist brings their knowledge and the tools they need to create the shots they need.

Photographers: Cameras & lighting

Models: Outfits & Accessories

Makeup Artists & Hairstylists: Hair & Makeup Kits

How do I get my photos?

Each photographer is obligated to provide high-res images to those who have contributed to the final shot.  To make things easier for everyone due to the dynamic nature of the event, photographers (at the minimum) should tag the models, who then tag the MUAs and Hairstylists who contributed on Facebook.  This allows everyone to quickly find their images!
Model Release forms?

Photographers would do well to have their own release forms.  Photographers may not charge for photos taken during the event. Models are expected to read and review before signing ANYthing, and assistance in reviewing contracts before signing is available.

How does this whole thing work?

In a nutshell, models meet with MUAs and hairstylists early in the day to get dolled up, then shoot with photographers who are set up and ready to go.  Once a shoot is done (I suggest 30min – 1 hour for each shoot), the model and photographer may work with others who are available.  The beauty of this event is that you can work with MANY people in one day, so the more you put yourself out there, the more opportunities you will have.

There are no assigned groups or time limits, which allows the freedom to begin and end each shoot as you see fit.  With everyone focused on shooting, this environment is entirely motivating!

Are minors allowed to participate?

Minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian to participate. A release form signed by parents must be presented when checking in, as well as be able to sign release forms provided by photographers.

I have a question, who can I contact?

Feel free to contact Ryan Llora at http://fb.com/ryanllora with any questions you have!

Please read the following for the terms and conditions of participating:

Registration and payment of your ticket for this event hereby releases from liability and to indemnify and hold harmless the SoCal Photography Group (SCPG), venue owner(s), and any of its employees or agents representing or related to the SoCal Photography Group or venue owners from injuries or damage that may arise during your participation of the photoshoot.

The workshop events offered by the SoCal Photography Group (“SCPG”) are photographed, audio-recorded, and video-taped by participating members of the SCPG. The SCPG may distribute or use these photos and audio or visual recordings on its web sites or in its print and electronic materials for purposes consistent with its mission of organizing photography workshops and/or networking events. Registration for this event signifies your consent to be recorded and/or photographed without consideration for financial compensation. All participants under the age of 18 must have a model release signed by a parent or legal guardian agreeing to the terms of the event.

All participating photographers/videographers agree to provide other contributing artists with high-resolution images taken during the event without fees. Failure to comply will result to exclusion from future events.  All participating models agree to have their likenesses photographed and distributed without further compensation consideration from the photographer or The SCPG, and agree to use the images for personal promotional use only.  Photographers are expected to provide their own model release forms establishing the use of photos taken during the shoot. Model release forms may vary from person to person, and models are expected to review said releases prior to acceptance of the terms set forth.

Persons with disabilities. The SCPG cannot guarantee the venues used for event workshops will be accessible to disabled persons. The SCPG cannot be held responsible for providing transportation or access to people with disabilities.  The SCPG does not guarantee nor warrant that disabled persons will have complete access to the full venue.

Insurance. It is highly recommended that all participating members have insurance coverage for their equipment, clothing, or other items to be used at SCPG workshops.  Such insurance provides coverage for losses suffered during the event, including cancellation and interruption, medical emergencies, theft or damage to equipment, accidental death, etc.  It is each participant’s responsibility to purchase the policy, which is not a part of the cost for the workshop.

Cancellations/Refunds.  Refunds are not allowed, but you may transfer your registration to another person if needed.

Photography.  Participating photographers hereby grant us the following right in the photography taken by you during SCPG events if you personally submit images to the representatives of the SCPG either during the event, by mail or electronically: the right to use and reuse the photography in SCPG related materials and on web sites operated under the SCPG. You also grant us the right to permit selected third parties to use the photography in both editorial and promotional context. You further promise that the photography you take during the event will be of your own creation and will not be libelous or obscene or otherwise violate or infringe the rights of any third party. If we publish your photography, you shall receive a credit, the placement, size and typeface of which shall be in our sole discretion.

Use of Name and Likeness. You also grant us the right to use your name and likeness in connection with the advertising and promotion of SCPG if you appear in photographs taken while attending. Possible purposes include slide shows to promote the event.

Camera, Film, & Lighting. You must bring your own camera equipment. Digital cameras, 35mm, phone-based cameras, and recording devices are appropriate. Medium and Large-format cameras are highly discouraged due to bulk and the fast-paced, close-quartered nature of the event.  The SCPG is not responsible for the development or processing of images taken during the event.  Attendees are allowed to bring their own lighting equipment, but the SCPG will not be held liable for any loss or damage suffered during the event.

Hair & Makeup: Makeup artists (MUA) and hairstylists are providing their services with reasonable consideration and may require fees for extensive work needed beyond normal duties.  The individual requesting additional services beyond basic services may agree or not agree to the prices proposed by the MUA or Hairstylist, and may decline such offers without holding the talent obligated to perform such services.  Tips may be given for services rendered as a gesture of appreciation, but is not required.

Miscellaneous. You agree that no oral representations, statements or other inducements apart from the foregoing written above have been made. This Agreement shall be governed by the laws of the United States applicable to contracts entered into and performed entirely therein. This Agreement sets forth our entire understanding and may not be modified except in a writing signed by you and the SCPG.
